Some of the reasons for the passengers gctting duped or are made to pay more than the scheduled charges are as under: (i) The boards indicating the scheduled rates are not available, (ii) At times, the boards may be available but the letter size and colouring is such that the information is not legible. ' ह (ii) The boards may be in places which are not prominent or not well illuminated iy and consequently the users can not sce the same. \e ९... . (iv) The parking tickets do not contain the scheduled rates or at times it may be that - ं the rates printed on the tickets are higher than the scheduled rates so as to cheat the passengers. (v) The rates on the parking tickets are printed in such a fashion so as to mislead users into paying higher charges. eg. The charges for the first 4 hours are Rs,5/- and for ihe next slab are Rs.10/-. ‘This is indicated on the parking tickets in such a fashion that Rs.5 is printed in small Jetters towards the extreme left of the: ticket and Rs,10/- is printed boldly in the middle of the ticket, While tearing off the ticket from the book, the attendant tears in such a fashion that the indication of Rs.5/- gets torn-off and this is likely to mislead the users, . (vi) At times, the printing is also extremely small.and itis difficult to read the same. - Q- 2, It is suggested that the following action may be taken in order to mitigate the above problems:- (a) There should be adequate signage in the parking lot at both Entrance and Exit compulsorily and other locations as deemed fit. (b) Boards should be put up in an elevated position from the ground so that they are clearly visible from a distance of 50 ft. (c) Colour scheme should be such that the background is of lighter colouring and the lettering is of a brighter colouring, Letter size should be big enough _ to be read from a distance of 50 ft. . (d) The rates should be visible both while entering and leaving. It should be ensured that these boards are placed in a well-illuminated locations for being “seen easily. (e) The parking tickets should be printed in a manner that what is written on the same can be read easily without straining the eyes. (f) The information related to the scheduled rates should be in the middle of the ticket and not at the sides or comers to avoid its getting mutilated. (g) Announcement of the scheduled parking rates should be made over the Public Address System particularly at the time of arrival and departure of the trains. Please acknowledge receipt. (O.P.
