General Managers (Commercial Circular No 95 /2002) °- Subject: Catering services on Jan Shatabdi express कि Ministry of Railways have decided to’ introduce Jan Shatabdi Mail/Exp. न. trains on various sectors as provided in the Budget speech (2002-03) of - Hon’ble MR: Jan. Shatabdi will provide seating accommodation for AC and non-AC classes. It has also been decided that fare of Jan Shatabdi will also include charges for catering services. 2. To provide minimum required services, cost of morning tea /breakfast /tunch /evening snacks/dinner has been worked out based on the existing cost and menii provided for mobile catering/vending services(other than Rajdhani / Shatabdi Express traing}! The unit cost of meals to be apportioned in fare structure of Jan Shatabdis will be as under:- -* - Services Nor-AC Class AC Class i) Tea/Coffee+Biscuits Rs. 5/- Rs, 5/= ii) Breakfast/Snacks Rs.25/- Rs,35/- iti) Lunch/Dinner ~ Rs.30/+ Rs.40/- 3. The suggested menu of the above services is enclosed as Annexure-A, The suggested menn is indicative in nature and zonal railways in consultation with IRCTC may work out different menu, keeping in view the local taste and demand in mind. However, the menu should be reflective of cost. While deciding the menu, it should be kept in mind that pre-cooked dry type meals- packed in casseroles should be served, as there is no space for cooking in mini pantries. Meal should be served in pre-set trays along with napkin and spoon. : Contd..... _ पे पृ 4. Zonal Railways in consultation with IRCTC will decide the number of services to be provided, which will depend upon the timings and will fix apportionment charges in fare by average out cost of total number of services provided in each direction between two pair of stations. It should, however, be kept in mind that bare minimum services as per service timings are provided... in fare to keep fare, structure on lower side. 5. The unit cost of breakfast /snacks and lunch/dinner also includes the services of packaged drinking water and the same should not be included separately in fare structure. 6. The cost of newspaper is also not included in the fare structure of Jan Shatabdi, Zonal Railway may decide to supply Newspapers,/ magazines on sale in consultation with IRCTC. : 7. Other items like wafers, biscuits, chocolates, cold drinks etc. should be — available on sale... i. 8. Zonal Railway in consultation with IRCTC will decide about the — licence fee according to provisions contained in catering policy 2000, The licence fee will be deducted at source from the bills of the services provider: and as per the broad terms and conditions contained in MoU of IR and This issues with the concurrence of Finance Directorate of Railway Board and the approval of Board (MT).
