Sub: Reduction in Passenger Fares for AC 2-tier & AC First classes from.
April 1, 2006 — Raitway Budget 2006-07.

4.0 As announced by Minister of Railways in his Speech for Railway Budget
2006-07, it has been decided to reduce the besic fares for AC 2-tier-& AC First
classes, by towering their relativity Index of fares | -

1.1 Fares for MalV/Exprees traing; The relativity index of farés for AC 2-tler
-& AC First classes, with index of fares for Second class Mail/Express as 100
shail be revised as under

_ There is no change in the Relativity Index of fares for other clesses.

41.2 Esres for Raidhani Exorees trains; The basic AC 2-tler & AC First
class fares (inclusive of reservation fee & supplementary charge for superfast
" trains) for Rajdhani Express trains shall also be lowered accordingly. There is no
change in fares for other clesses of Rajdhani Express trains

2. Fares for Shatabdl, Jen Shatabdi & Passenger trains: There ‘is no
_ change in the fares for any class of these trains

. 3 QOthercharges: There is no change in other charges like season ticket
fares, safety surcharge, Platform tickets, etc.

4. __ The revised fare structure for AC 2-tier & AC First class for Mall/Express
- trains and Rajdhani Express trains are enclosed. The basic fares for Rajdhani
Express trains are inclusive of Reservation Fee and Supplementary charge for
Super Fast trains, which will not be levied separately.

5. The General Secretary, IRCA has been requested to re-print the
_ Passenger Fare tabie, incorporating therein the revised fares for Mail/Express

and Rajdhani Express trains. Each Raltway will ensure that the requisite number
of copies of the Fare Tables is collected from 1.R.C.A. Office and distributed to
the concemed staff well in advance

6. The reduction in fares for AC 2-tier & AC First class will come into effect
for journeys commencing on and after 1.4.2006. The revised AC 2-tier & AC
First class fares will also apply to tickets issued in advance. Until new tickets are
printed (in exceptional cases where printed Card Tickets are used), old tickets
may be issued after having necessary corrections in fares made on such tickets
in advance. Such alterations by the staff should be made preferably with a
stamp or in ink. A suitable notice in the Press should be given advising that til!
such time new tickets are printed and made available, the existing tickets with
alterations in fares on such tickets would be issued

7. . Refund of difference In fares

7.1 inthe case of AC 2-ter & AC first class tickets already lasued ‘at: pre-
revised rates, the refund of difference of fares shall be granted by any of the
following options, at the discretion of the passenger as under:-

(i) Full difference fare peid and fare payable, without deducting any
cancellation charge or clerkage, shall be refunded on production of the
tkket issued at pre-revised during working hours, at any PRS
terminai.

(i) |= When refund is sought before commencement of joumey, the
original ticket will be surrendered for the purpose of granting refund and
fresh ticket with revised rates will be issued keeping the reservation status
of the passengers (s) intact

(ii) | When refund is sought after completion of journey, refund shail
granted at the destination from any PRS terminal within 3 days of the
compietion of jou Thereafter, they may send the origina! ticket to
CCM (Refunds) of journey originating or terminating Zonal Railway, along
with an application, for refund of difference of fares.. On receipt of
application & original ticket, CCM (Refunds) will grant immediate refund of
full difference of fare to passenger, without deducting any cancellation
one. For such cases, vetting of associate Finance need not be
