While presenting the Budget, MR has declared the year 1999-2000 as the ‘Year Of
Passenger’. He has further declared that all efforts will be made to improve the quality of
_ passenger services on 30 Mail and Express trains. , ः
2. Consequent upon the announcement made by MR, 2 list of 30 treins has been prepared
in Beard’s office, which Is enclosed herewith. A nobe indicating areas of upgradation chosen
and also the implementation plan for these trains is also enclosed. General Managers may
kindly initiate the process of upgradation of quality of services on these trains in a tme-bound
manner, '
3. Since the ttems are very important, the DRMs of the division in whose jurisdiction the
primary maintenance lies will be fully accountable for providing all these. services. At the
headquacter level AGMs should be asked to review the progress on monthly basie and the
same should be reported in MCDO to Railway Board. )
4. This issues with the approval of Mechanical, Electrical and Finance Directorates -
Raliway Board.

The trains -selected are given in Annexure-I. All the trains should have the fol

. All trains selected will be Superfast trains.
Alr-brake stock with vestibules should be provided in all trains
२ The Pantry Car should be provided in the trains where there is no pantry car,
+ One Cabin in Sleeper Class should be earmarked for TS and other maintenance
staff supporting its functioning and a proper displey board on the cabin of 1S
should be provided ;
. One Walkie-talkie should be provided to TS plus two to other support staff of TS.
. This does not Include sets already given to Driver & Guard
» Trolleys may be provided in Ist AC for serving the food and tray carriers bs providest
in other AC classes. In case-where-catering is by private contractor, supply of-these*
» ltems will be by contractor, Instructiong. issued in this. regard from -Chtering.
_ Directorate letter No.97/TG-IN/613/1 dated 29.6:99 should be followed
Distinctive uniforms be provided to these train accompanying staff whe are net:

Following staff may be provided for the train which should be found by

TS,RPF and Sefaiwalas will be provided from end do end on these trains. The
work of cleanliness be ensured before departure of the train and at all stations
where the train ‘stops without fail. TS will be responsible to. ensure cleanliness

Electrical staff as per approved yardstick,
Other staff on trains itself may work in their respective jurisdictions.

IML . QUALITY OF SERVICE:

All’ on-board services on these trains should be closely monitored and their .
deficiencies’ should be rectified on the spot to the exterit possible.. Thereafter, '
_ the deficiencies should be transmitted to the base depots at either end for
rectification by using the standard proforrna aswell as E-Mail services already
provided in this respect. . The quality should be monitored at divisional, zona! ;
and Board's levels, Sr.DCMs of the division, CCM/PS at headquarter level should

Liquid soap and Deodourants may be provided in toilets of upper class coaches
