(COMMERCIAL CIRCULAR NO.}.4. OF 2013) Sub: Levying of service tax on service charges for e-tickets booked through IRCTC Ref: IRCTC’s letter no. 2012/IRCTC/ERTD/Service Tax dated 31.01.2013. Vide letter dated 31.01.2013,IRCTC had requested permission to levy Service Tax as applicable, on customers, in addition to the existing service charge levied on the booking of e-tickets. 2. The matter has been examined and the said proposal of IRCTC to transfer the liability incurred on account of imposition of Service Tax on the service charges levied by IRCTC (for booking e-tickets on IRCTC website) to the customers has been agreed to. 3. The date of effect may kindly be advised to this office. 4. This issues with the approval of Finance (Expenditure) Directorate of Ministry of Railways.
