Addendum No.1 to Commercial Circular No.36 of 2015
Sub: Installation of Water Vending Machines (WVMs) at Stations.
Ref: Board’s Commercial Circular No.36 of 2015 dated 16.06.2015.
As per Commercial Circular No. 36 of 2015, detailed policy guidelines for installation of
Water Vending Machines (WVMs) over Indian Railways were issued and IRCTC had been
mandated to install the WVMs at all categories of Railway Stations.
References have been received from Zonal Railways seeking the Board's permission for
Railways to install WVMs at Stations in order to expedite the process of installation of WVMs
and meet the demands of passengers for purified drinking water at affordable price. Based on
suggestions received from Railways, the said provision has been reviewed and approval of Board
is accorded to transfer the mandate for installation of WVMs at all category of stations to Zonal
Railways henceforth.
The existing WVMs shall continue to operate under management of IRCTC as per the
existing terms and conditions till expiry of their contract period.
All other instructions/guidelines of Commercial Circular No.36 of 2015 shall remain
unchanged and applicable for Railways mutatis mutandis.
This issues with the concurrence of Finance Directorate of Ministry of Railways.
