Sub: Clarification in regard to fixation of pay in revised pay Scale under Railway Services-(Revised Pay) Rules, 2008.
Consequent upon the implementation of the recommendations of the Sixth Central Pay Commission, various changes in the scales of pay, allowancesetc have taken> place.
In this connection some Railway zones have sought claHfication regarding :grant of officiating Charge Allowance admissible toofficers,'promoted on adhoc basis within Group'A' of various Railway sei'Vices/posts. The matter has since been examined in detail in consultation with Associate Finance of the Ministry of Railways.

At present, the officers are paid the following existing rates of charge allowance on their ad hoc promotions in terms of Board's letter No. E(O)III-98IPUlO dated 28.04.1999 ;-
i) From Junior Scale to Senior Scale '" ii) From Senior Scale to JA Grade iii) From JA Grade/Selection iv) From SA Grade to HA Grade Rs 750/· Rs.750/- Rs 850/- Rs. 1000/-

With the coming into effect of 6th CPC recommendations, the scales of pay hitherto applicable have been replaced with running Pay Bands with grade pay.
Since the Ministry of Finance,Deptt.
of ExpEtnditure have been issuing clarifications on vl;lriouS issues/allowance payable to qen~ral Govt. employees pursuant to the recommendations of the 6th CPC, it has beEm"decided not to effect any change in the charge allowance bein~rp'aid'as above forthe present.
As such, it has been decided that the existing Charge Allowance as mentioned.in Para (2) above be continued to be paid, until further orders.
